Welcome to our team page for The Extra Mile®

Anthony Miles Buck was born January 24, 2019 weighing 4lbs 11oz and was 16.5 inches long. He was a preemie and had a NICU stay of 10 days. We had a birth diagnosis and are so thankful for our team of doctors and nurses who went above and beyond to make sure we were connected with DSAMT!

DSAMT has been there for us since the confirmation diagnosis of Down syndrome while in the NICU. They provided us with a Sunshine bag while at the hospital. We have a parent mentor through DSAMT that we absolutely love. There are so many activities provided including but not limited to Mom's/Dad's Night Out, community events such as Main Event, music classes, The Extra Mile, etc. They also support us with school and IEP stuff by providing an advocate. Most of those are free of cost to families!

DSAMT is near and dear to our hearts! Please consider donating so that these programs can continue on! Every little bit counts!

Miles had a great time at a birthdat party this afternoon. Watch him and Bradley go down the slide.

Miles has his evaluation with the school system in the morning at 8am. I’m so thankful it will be at the school I teach at and he will be with me in the fall. I’m worried that he will refuse to work as leaving Mama and Daddy is hard right now. Here’s where you come in. Will you lift up my boy and pray for willingness to work and show what he knows? I’d greatly appreciate it!

We went to a birthday party today. Miles loved splashing in the puddles.

Learning how to use tongs to feed himself. Shhh… don’t tell him he’s working hard.

Today has been so hard! It’s 23 years since Daddy passed away. It’s also the first without Mom. She would always call me to check in on this day. Not getting that call has so difficult. I miss them both so much!

Thank you Jennifer for date night! We went to Maggiano’s for dinner and then watched ISS at the movies.

Happy New Year! We have pork chops, sweet Italian bratwurst, carrots, salad because we don’t like collard greens, and homemade cornbread. Don’t come at me about my divided plate. #somefoodsshouldnevertouch

I made a point to grab some flowers from Mom’s funeral that reminded me of her. Bradley helped me dry them out so that I could make this. It’s a shadow box with the flowers and her obituary. It’s absolutely beautiful!
