Desmond's Dream Team
Dear friends and family,
When Krishtine was pregnant and we found out our baby would have Down syndrome, we had many questions. Fortunately, we found the Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County. DSNMC connected us with other parents of young children with Down syndrome, and gave us a welcome package that included an ABCs board book featuring pictures of children with Down syndrome. We also attended a virtual DSNMC workshop to learn about Maryland ABLE accounts for people with special needs and opened one for Desmond so we can save for his future.
These friendships and resources have been so valuable, and as Desmond gets older, he'll be able to attend public speaking workshops, self advocacy training, and more, all courtesy of DSNMC!
In 2023, Dylan began working for DSNMC as their Communications Coordinator, and our respect for the organization has only grown. We've met families who have moved to Montgomery County from other states and countries in part because of the support that DSNMC provides. They are that essential.

We're hoping to raise $5,500 for this important cause that's near to our hearts. Every dollar we raise will support local programs and services, as well as advocacy and public awareness initiatives that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.
We also invite you to join us at the Step UP Walk on Saturday, October 19 from 10:30am-2pm at Hadley Park in Potomac, MD. We are walking to show our support for Desmond and all individuals with Down syndrome. Step UP is DSNMC's largest fundraising and awareness event of the year, attracting over 700 participants and raising 70% of the annual revenue needed to fulfill its mission. The event is filled with activities, music, food, and fun for everyone to enjoy. We'd love for you to join us!
