Gray's Groupies
Welcome to Gray’s Groupies’ Greater Columbus Buddy Walk® fundraising page!
We have been walking this journey since October 2015., when we found out Grayson would have Down syndrome. I was 13 weeks pregnant, and after trying to get pregnant for 6 years, it was a big shock and not part of my plan AT ALL!
I went through most of the pregnancy being in denial and being afraid of the unknown. I could have used a support system of parents who had been down the road we were on, but I didn’t know one existed in my area. In large part due to there not being enough resources given to parents when they receive the diagnosis in our area. It wasn’t until months after Grayson was born that I was connected with the then-president of the Down Syndrome Association. As the years have gone on (he’ll be 9 in April!) my passion for helping families—families who often feel isolated, alone, and overlooked—has only grown. It's become a personal crusade to ensure no one feels they have to navigate this journey without help. Back in January, I was voted in to be President of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Columbus!
It has been a whirlwind the last few months trying to get things rolling again, and this year we’re bringing the always fun and exciting Buddy Walk back to Columbus, Ga!
