Join us Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 9 am for our First Annual 5K with a Little Extra as we race through the great trails at Millican Reserve! If you're a seasoned trail runner or a first timer, this event is for you!
About the Course/Trails
This is a medium technical 5K course, which is chip timed. The course features running through the woods on some single track trails. You will also experience some gravel and a ditch or two. We will have volunteers posted throughout the course to direct and encourage. Aid stations will be available throughout the course as well. Course Map will be up shortly! The race is at the Millican Reserve on FM 2154 south of College Station.
What does 5K with a Little Extra Mean?
Great question! People with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome, so this race has a little something EXTRA too – Official times will be recorded at the 5K finish line, then runners will go on to DASH the extra 0.11 miles to finish at 3.21 miles, in honor of the 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome present in people with Down syndrome. And if you’re lucky, you may be accompanied through the second finish line by DASHers with Down syndrome to cheer you on and thank you for your support of cognitive research and education programs that will contribute to their ability to reach their own full potential.
Each runner will receive a dri-fit t-shirt and a great post run party.
