The Buddy Walk® began in 1995 as an event to promote acceptance and inclusion for all people with Down Syndrome. Today community Buddy Walks take place in over 250 locations and exist to both raise awareness for the Down Syndrome community and fundraise to support programs, policies, and opportunities for individuals with Down Syndrome. The Buddy Walk® is one of the top fundraisers worldwide as well as the largest profile event for raising awareness for the Down Syndrome community. Each Buddy Walk® is organized locally within the framework and support of the NDSS. Learn more about the history of the Buddy Walk® here.
The Canton Area Buddy Walk (Formerly known as the North Canton Buddy Walk) is designed as both a local fundraiser and a community event. The emphasis is not on the actual walking, but on bringing families together to enjoy a fun filled day while also raising funds to further opportunities for those within the Down Syndrome community. Monies raised from this event will go directly support individuals and families with Down Syndrome through programming and activities, tutoring, adoption assistance and more.
